A weekend warmup is coming to SoCal. Here's how hot it will get on Father's Day

Warmup heading to SoCal on Father's Day weekend
A warmup is coming to SoCal, and the heat is expected to peak on Father's Day.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A warmup is coming to Southern California Father's Day weekend, with desert areas expected to experience triple-digit heat.

A high-pressure system over Arizona will be close enough to generate hot temperatures over the deserts, while other inland area will also warm up. Meanwhile, onshore flow will keep the coast and beaches cool.

Warmer conditions will be noticeable on Saturday, and Sunday is expected to be slightly hotter.

But first, Los Angeles and Orange counties on Friday will see temperatures in the mid 70s after morning clouds dissipate. Sunday is expected to reach a high of 84.

The valleys and Inland Empire on Friday will see plenty of sunshine amid a high of 90 degrees. The weekend is expected to remain in the low 90s.

Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine at the beaches on Friday. Look for a high temperature of 72 degrees and a low of 59.

The mountains will have a high of 80 degrees, along with sunny conditions. The low temperature will drop to 46.

In the deserts Friday, temperatures will stay in the upper 90s and it could hit triple digits this weekend. Palm Springs is expected to reach 107 degrees Friday and it could reach 114 degrees Sunday.
